Investment Strategy

Most metropolitan markets in the U.S. today have been dramatically impacted by ongoing consolidation in the banking sector, resulting in a competitive landscape that is barbelled – big banks and small banks, but not much in between.

BankCap fundamentally believes that there is a tremendous opportunity to reclaim the middle ground through the establishment of midsize banks focused on serving the sophisticated needs of commercial middle market companies and private banking clients.

Broadly speaking, BankCap’s principal investment strategy is to identify outstanding management teams in attractive markets and then in partnership with those teams, invest in and facilitate the development of midsize banks that have strong local sponsorship and significant amounts of capital (usually greater than $100 million in total capital.)

BankCap is comfortable investing in large de novos and recapitalizations of existing banks.  BankCap typically invests between $10 and $60 million per investment and is willing to be classified as a bank holding company for its investments.

In addition to the principal investment strategy described above, BankCap reviews and considers investments in the broader financial services space.
